About

Welcome

I’m Scott Haugh. I'm glad you're here.

My coaching is rooted in the practice of relaxing, staying in the moment and noticing impermanence. Practicing these ideals makes difficulties more manageable. Also it’s important to include positive thinking, which can be the result of embracing the practices of simplicity, equality, peace, and integrity. Most people can benefit from more meditation, which is an opportunity to embrace all parts of the self.

A dam slows water from flowing downstream. Once the dam is open the current is much stronger. This applies to the words and actions. A pause in speech makes the next words more powerful. A pause in an action makes the next action more deliberate, effective and conscious. These practices enhance my life and can enhance yours.

Writing, drawing and other creative activities can fuel a vision for a better life. For example: drawing an image of the ideal self in ideal circumstances. When people get specific about their vision, the results are more likely.

Core Principles:

People can change when they decide to.

There’s nothing wrong with you. The reason we fight and dislike each other is due to the expression of character defects. Managing character defects changes everything. The core is beautiful and whole. It is the self.

My job is to listen and stimulate the healing process of acceptance. I don’t have your answers or any agenda. My intention is to put you at ease so that you can develop your own solution. I believe that everyone has their own answers; they just need support to find them.

Success is subjective. I am not a job/career coach and I have no idea how to help you make

$10,000 a day.

Fictional Therapeutic Scenario:

Deb: I’m terribly depressed.

D. Fred: Why don't you tell me what’s going on.

Deb: I neglect my friends because I am always working.

My job does pay enough and I have to work some evenings and weekends. My second job uses most of my free time.

My car doesn't always start.

My ankle hurts and I’m afraid I’ll fall when walking long distances.

My son is failing in high school and we can't afford his medications because we haven't reached the deductible.

My daughter can’t afford college.

My husband left me for a young waitress and doesn't usually pay child support.

My parents need to live with us, but we don't have room.

Dr Fred: Sound like you need antidepressants for a chemical imbalance.

(People with depression tend to have a more realistic view of the world.)

For inspiration:

Attributed to Friedrich Nietzche:

Those who were dancing in the rain we thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.

Elizabeth Fry

Do not fear truth. . . Never give up the search after it; and let me take courage and try from the bottom of my heart to do that which I believe truth dictates.

Henry David Thoreau:

The fault finder will find fault in paradise.

The Rev., Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

A riot is the voice of the unheard.

Mahatma Ghandi:

The only tyrant I accept in this world is the still voice within.

Marianne Williamson:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: who am I to be brilliant gorgeous talented and fabulous?

Actually, who am I not to be. You are a child of god. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that outer people don’t feel insecure around you.

C. JoyBell C.:

Nervousness is god shaking the truth out of you.

Maya Angelo:

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Think on these:

A Scorpion approached a frog and requested to ride across a swollen river. The frog said “Yes, but you must promise not to sting me.” The scorpion agreed and the frog carried him across the river. On the other side, the scorpion stung the frog. As the frog was dying, he said: “You promised!” The scorpion said: “Yes, but it is my nature to sting.”

A priest and his student approached a flooded river. A woman in exquisite dress asked: “Sir, can you carry me across the river? It’s flooded and crossing it will ruin my outfit.” The priest said “Yes.” The student kept quiet, but was aghast since touching a woman was forbidden. The three crossed the river and the woman said “Thank you,” and departed. A few miles down the road the student asked: “Why did you carry the woman when it is forbidden to touch?” The priest said: “At the bank over the river, I let go of the woman and she went her way. You are still carrying her.”
